Sports and recreation are a major factor in making Corpus Christi a better place to live and earn a living. While there are numerous organized activities such as football, baseball, basketball, tennis, golf, and paintball ; water related activities such as swimming, fishing, boating, sailing, wind surfing, or just a picnic on the beach are popular with residents and visitors alike.

Corpus Christi provides cultural opportunities not generally found in cities its size. Some of the attractions are provided by seven museums, a symphony orchestra, jazz society, art center, two little theater groups and the Corpus Christi Ballet. In addition, Corpus Christi State University and Del Mar College have a wide variety of concerts, art exhibits and theater presentations open to the general public.

The museums include the Art Museum of South Texas, Centennial House, Coleman Roddy Museum at the port, The Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History, International Kite Museum, the Museum of Oriental Cultures, the U.S.S. Lexington Museum and the Telephone Pioneer Museum.
